Playstation Plus has been an amazing deal for over a year now, but the amount of discounts it has been offering these last few months is just mind boggling. If you own a PS3, and you’re not a  member of Plus, you really need to reconsider the option. In recent updates these are the games that have been offered completely free to all Plus members:

    • Gotham City Imposters
    • Infamous 2
    • LittleBigPlanet 2
    • Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
    • Warhammer 40k Space Marine
    • Just Cause 2
    • Saints Row 2
    • Laura Croft Guardian of Light
    • Renegade Ops
    • Pacman Dx
    • Choplifter HD
    • Sideway NY
    • Virtua Fighter 5
    • Hard Corp: Uprising
    • Zombie Apocalypse Never Die Alone

During this weeks newest update, we’re also getting the brand new episodic game series by Telltale Games: The Walking dead Episode 1 and 2.

Many people argue these games aren’t purely “free” as you must be a member of Playstation Plus to get them, and because they disappear once your membership is up. That is your opinion, but I wholeheartedly disagree with it. Something is free when it is given to you without extra cost, and without expecting it. Most people get the Playstation Plus membership for the cloud saving, the amazing guaranteed discounts, full game trials and early beta access. When Sony began giving out games that was just icing on the cake.

Even if you’re a person who doesn’t consider the games as being really “free”, you still can’t argue with the discounts. Well you can because you can always argue, but you would be wrong to do so! Every new game to come to PSN gets a 20% discount for plus members. That’s a substantial amount if you’re a person like me. Looking at my past purchases I have saved over $300 as a member of plus, not including all of the free games. Older games get an even larger discount. When items go on sale over PSN it’s not rare for plus members to get 50-75% discount on both full games and smaller indie titles. Once you buy those games discounted, they’re yours for life.

$50 may seem like a lot, but it’s only a yearly fee. Some months the sales are so good, buying a plus membership purely for just those particular discounts will save you money! Any way you look at it Playstation Plus is a considerable discount for considerable gamers. Even if you’re not a heavy gamer that’s even more reason to join Plus. If you don’t spend a lot on games you could pay $50 a year for Sony to practically throw free games that you probably wouldn’t have purchased and discounts at you.

Sony made it very clear at this years E3 Plus was a priority, and right now the deals are hot. They have even hinted at Plus members getting free Vita versions of PS3 games when you buy games that are also available on the Vita. Currently, being a member of Plus offers a multitude of free games, a 20% discount on all new PSN games, full game trials, cloud save and access to exclusive betas. With perks like that being offered, it’s about time you got yourself a membership.
