Do you like rhythm games that you play on a guitar prop that makes you feel badass? Of course you do, everyone does, that’s why they made about 50 of those games. Now there’s a new spin on that very popular genre from an upcoming game called Retro/Grade by studio 24 Caret Games.
With a basis almost as strange as its name, Retro/Grade is a game that lets you “fight through reverse-timed space battles.” Now is your chance to play a shoot ’em up in reverse! Just like you have always secretly wanted. You see, at the beginning of the game you are in the process of stopping an alien invasion. Unfortunately, the massive damage that is known to happen during an alien space war has caused a rift in the space/time continuum, forcing all time to be replayed in reverse. You start the game out at the final boss, and now you must help Rick Rocket restore the balance of time and space.
Now it’s up to you to unfire your gun and unfight your enemies, all in hope of undoing what has already been done! You’ll dodge enemies and collect power ups to the tune of electronic music and flashy graphics, just like any great shoot ’em up. Except, now you have an excuse to pull out that dusty guitar peripheral you haven’t touched in months and make good use out of it! If jamming to electric symphonic beats isn’t your thing (why are you even here?) the game is also available to play on a standard Dualshock 3 controller.
Retro/Grade will be out exclusively on the Playstation 3 on August 21st. It will be sold on PSN, and if you want the stellar (see what I did there) soundtrack, it will be available in a separate bundle with the game. For more information on the game visit the official site!
