Diablo 3 is getting a massive patch very soon that will be introducing and improving a variety of mechanics. These include buffing up all of the current characters by boosting some of their skills, improving the legendary items, and what I’m about to talk about, introducing the Paragon system.
The Paragon system is designed to add a new level of gameplay specifically for max level characters. Now killing monsters won’t feel like an utter waste of time just because you can’t level up anymore. The Paragon system has 100 levels, and after hitting 60 every time you kill monsters you will receive experience towards the Paragon system. Every time your Paragon levels up level up you will receive:
- Core stats such as Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality with amounts similar to leveling up
- 3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find
- A distinctive increasingly-impressive border will surround your character portrait in the in-game party frame to denote your Paragon progression.
The first Paragon level will take about the same amount of time as it took most players to go from 59 to 60. From there on the amount to level up will increase. The Paragon system is a neat idea in place of just leveling up more. I do wish high Paragon levels would also reward me with new skills, or maybe even another button to map a skill to.
This new Paragon system will also help to fix the problem of swapping magic-find gear in the middle of combat. Now if your Paragon level reaches 100 you will have 300% increased find rate. This will allow you the freedom of always wearing your better gear to improve your core stats and attributes.
