Evilot ScreenshotPlayers take the roll of Count Dolfus an evil overlord who has just entered retirement, all he wants to do now is spend his last few years in peace, but that’s not going to happen, is it?

With the news of Count Dolfus’ retirement getting out, heroes and adventurers running through the Kingdom of Evilot have set out to get a piece of the small amount of money in his retirement fund and take down the evil overlord. Players have to prepare the defences to withstand the oncoming attacks.

At a glance the game looks very similar to the classic Plants vs. Zombies layout, but the developers have assured us via their Kickstarter page that though it may look similar, it’s got an entirely different strategy. Here’s a quote from the Kickstarter update;

It is also important to note that it has been brought to our attention that the difference between our game and Plants vs Zombies is not clear. The thing is, that it does indeed resemble Plant vs Zombies on a superficial level, but the gameplay mechanics are completely different.

If you place 3 units on a row or column, those 3 units are removed and you get a higher level unit, thus, you’ll have to constantly evaluate your position, instead of the “place and forget” approach found on Plants vs Zombies.

The game is set to have 50 different levels, spread accross 5 Territories, giving players a generous 8 hours of challenging game play. The game will also include 15 playable units and 5 different summons to aid your defence.

The soundtrack will have 11 different songs completely unique and specifically composed for the game.

If the game gets it’s funding you can expect to find Evilot on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and the new Android based console OUYA (their proof of purchase of the OUYA dev kit can be found on the first update that they released a few hours ago (at time of writing)).

Check out the Evilot Kickstarter page here and find out what else they’re offering if they reach and exceed their $10,000 goal.
