You wouldn’t be mistaken if you asked who are Bungie (BUNGiE)? The game studio hasn’t been the most active since 2001 when they developed a small game called Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo rocketed as the Xbox’s most popular game and with Bungie teaming up with microsoft the little company from Chicago were doing well. Sadly the two companies went their separate ways and Halo as we all know continued to grow whilst Bungie, well didn’t.
But that was then and this is now and Bungie are back. This time with a ‘Game-Changer’ a game that is going to reinvent what gaming is about. Code name ‘Destiny’. Images of the game were leaked at the end of November, but Bungie took it quite well and released this on their website : “Well, that just happend…again”. With an image that was not leaked (right). It’s been said that Bungie want a Universe as deep as Star Wars. A tall order, but not impossible. The game is to be set 700 years in the future with nearly all the human race wiped out there is one city that remains protected by a mysterious ship that looms over the city like a second moon. No one knows what it is except that it is helping to protect the last city. The human is tasked with protecting the city from other attacking lifeforms that will attempt to sneak in. Bungie’s Co-Founder Jason Jones was quoted saying “Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure.” which suggests it isn’t going to be as serious as maybe the released images suggest. Would a title that seems to be aimed at anyone be a good thing? In my opinion, yes. There is nothing better than being able to share your gaming experiences with someone, that may be your younger brother, or older sister even you grand parents. A game that everyone can enjoy can only be a good thing.
Information points to a late 2013 release with a potential for three other games in 2015, 2017 & 2019 with expansions of the games due in the years between them. If this is at all true it’s giving this game a very long life. The game is planned to be released on XBOX360 PS3 and even stated to be available on the next-gen console, If that is the rumored XBOX 720 we’ll just have to wait and see.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this game so check back soon for more information and images as soon as we get it. Also let us know what you think of Bungie’s very secret game? Will it hit or miss? Could this game combat the Halo series? Share your thought in the comments below.
