As you may be aware almost every video game blog/website fell for a video that turned out to be an unofficial fan edit of Activision’s The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts video game, and during the “check out the leaked gameplay trailer” fans of the franchise were in uproar over how boring the footage was.
If you check back to our earlier post you can see the
action packed boring and placid game play full of thrills and spills walking around doing next to nothing – apart from the occasional ‘whacking a zombie with an axe’ moment for yourself – it doesn’t make me want to hand over £30 for what’s being played up as a AAA title.
As soon as people realised it was ‘fake’ there was a collective sigh of relief, but don’t get to comfortable because the game play was in fact real footage taken from IGN’s Up At Noon show, that being said it was collectively a few minutes of game play footage that couldn’t really represent an entire game.. could it?
Yes, according to Destructoid. As it turns out The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will be coming out March 26, 2013 in the US for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. That’s just over a month until the game is released.. There’s always hope though, because the developers Terminal Reality have since made it clear that the footage we all saw earlier this month was old footage and that the development team has made “big strides” since the release of that footage.
Are Terminal Reality just covering their arses with that statement or do you think the game they’re going to release will live up to the huge success of the AMC TV show?
