Sony announced yesterday that Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated game The Last of Us will be getting a demo that’ll be bundled with the upcoming game God of War: Ascension.
Gamers who buy God Of War will be instructed at the main menu how to access the demo as soon as it becomes available.
The Last of Us is one of the games that have tempted me to get a PS3. The game, developed by Naughty Dog the developers for the PlayStation exclusive Uncharted, is a survival horror, action-adventure game based around two main characters Joel and Ellie. The Last of Us takes place in a post apocalyptic world where a cordyceps-type fungus (better than zombies I suppose) has killed millions and the world is turning I Am Legend-esqe with buildings and such being covered by foliage and wild life.
The survivors of the fungus are being kept inside quarantine zones that’s being ruled over by a harsh US Military regime. Joel makes a promise to an old friend he’ll get Ellie away from the harsh regime. They take a journey through USA avoiding the infected (zombies!? dammit!) who’s sole aim is to spread the fungal infection.. Better stock up on athletes foot cream.
From the videos that I’ve seen of this game, it looks amazing. I’ve always wanted to play Uncharted but I’ve always taken a dislike to the PS3 (boo hiss). Perhaps now there’s a cheaper model of the PS3 I may actually get one for this game.
God of War: Ascension will be released on the 15th March so be sure to grab a copy not only for that title, but for the Last of Us demo! The Last of Us on the other hand has a release date of May 7th.
