So we’ve got a nice collection of Note devices now from the original Note, the Note 2, the Note 10.1 and now Samsung have announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 an 8-inch tablet that aims to be a direct competitor to the iPad Mini.
Before I even look at the device Samsung is already the clear winner in my eyes, but how do both tablets compare?
The iPad Mini:
The iPad Mini was first announced in October last year and was released only a month after in November. The iPad Mini comes with a 7.9 in screen with a 1024×768 resolution that displays 163 PPI. It comes in 16, 32, and 64GB models and has about 10hr battery life. In terms or processing speed, the iPad Mini comes with Apples A5 processor that has speeds of around 1Ghz and 512 MB RAM.
The Galaxy Note 8.0:
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is an 8-inch tablet with a resolution of 1280×800 with 189 PPI. The tablet comes in 16 or 32 GB versions and has 4,600 mAh battery. For processing speed the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has the Exynos 4 processor clocked at 1.6Ghz with 2GB of RAM.
From the hands-on reviews and various write ups of the Note 8.0 it looks like a pretty neat device, they’ve decided to go with the pebble shape for this model too like the Note 2 and the Galaxy S III, and in some ways just looks like a giant phone, but it could become the must have gadget for people who write notes a lot, it’s easy to hold in the hand and comes with Samsungs unique S-Pen, perfect for jotting down quick ideas.
The Note 8.0 is slated for release in the UK ‘sometime around the spring’ and no price as yet been announced. We’ll try and keep you posted on that bit of info!
