Don’t Starve is a fantastic new indie game that’s currently in development by Klei Entertainment. The goal of the game is to forage, build, and survive, and essentially don’t starve.
In Don’t Starve you play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. The world where Wilson finds himself is an amazingly drawn, dark land full of weird creatures, and dangerous surroundings.
In this game you can craft tools, forage for food, and create a little camp site in order to survive through the night and begin from where you left off the day before. The game has the appearance of a strange Tim Burton hand drawn cartoon which adds to the overall feel of the survival game. Not only does the game have heavy crafting and survival elements, it appears to almost border on the puzzler genre with no instructions, other than Wilson wanting to get home.
I’ve had the privilege to play an early access beta. I can’t say too much about it but what I can say is that it’s a truly addictive game that’s a lot more difficult than it seems. You too can have a quick 10 minute play of the game if you’re on Google Chrome, just visit http://www.dontstarvegame.com/ and click “Play Now” to install the app in Chrome.
The game has a fantastic team behind it as well as an active community of beta testers that are helping improve the game for release and it’s always being updated with new features. If you would like to become a part of the early-access beta you can for $11.99. This also gives you the complete game upon release, as well as an extra copy for a friend, and the best part – it’s all redeemable on Steam!
