gears

I just wanted to do a short article about an issue that has surfaced about the new Gears’ recently; Besides the title of the game being spelt wrong a new issue has surfaced about the new Gears of War which is that it has on-disc DLC. This isn’t a new concept with developers, last year Capcom did that very same thing and the biggest issue with Capcom was with Tekken x Street Fighter where there were finished DLC characters that were exclusive to the PSVita on the Xbox 360 – but I’m not here to do a short rant about Capcom.

What has surfaced recently about the new Gears of War game is that they are releasing free DLC on the April 2nd which is fine, I have no problem with that, you get a free map called Haven and the much requested by fans Execution game mode. The problem that has surfaced is the fact the game mode Warzone, another fan favourite, was found on the disc by players. You can access this mode if you do a certain button combination on private matches when you select Team Deathmatch. According to Epic Games the mode was meant to be deleted from the disc, which begs the question. Why is it still on the disc?

It’s business practises for games like this that really annoy me because why make us pay for something that’s on the disc? I don’t have a problem paying for DLC, I like to support really good games after release but when they pull off sneaky tricks like this, then I have problem. All I want is an up front game that doesn’t try to hide anything.

What are your thoughts about on-disc DLC? Leave a comment below..

Oh hush, this article is silly. Warzone isn’t on disc DLC. It was accidentally left in there from the programing of Gears 3. Want Warzone? Go Play Gears 3…

A fully playable mode with all Judgment versus maps is no accident. Left over programming doesn’t unlock with a few button presses!!!

Warzone is never coming to Judgment and it was accidentally left into the programming of the game. That does not mean it’s on disc DLC. Was Hot Coffee on disc DLC in GTA San Andreas because you could access it with a code? No, no it doesn’t.

He has a point though. Okay, maybe its not on-disc DLC but for a game mode to be enabled by a button combination is certainly more of an Easter egg than left over code.

No, it’s not. The version of Warzone that has been found ends the game after 1 round.
