Yesterday afternoon, Activisions Research & Development team showed live-action footage of the quality of next generation of gaming.

The video shows a bald, middle-aged man, just saying some stuff about parfait and yoghurt. They also released two series of images (check the gallery below); One with an elderly male, the other with a young female soldier, and quite frankly, I’m astounded.

The male face could use a little work, especially with the shape of the wrinkles. As you can see from the side-shot, they still look pretty flat.

The soldiers face on the other hand, looks pretty perfect to me. Everything’s been worked on. The skin tone, shape, detail to eye and hairs. They’ve just hit the nail on the head, and it has made me even more excited for the next generation of gaming.

It’s promising for the FPS franchises such as Battlefield and Call of Duty, but also for other games such as Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Gears of War and Saints Row. This will also hopefully void the gap between the difference of graphics and capability, not just between Xbox and PlayStation, but that of consoles and PC gaming.

With the Battlefield 4 gameplay trailer released recently, I wonder how much longer until Call of Duty release a teaser showing off the new capabilities?
