As you can probably tell by now by the amount I raved about the Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel demo, I’m a HUGE fan of co-op games, so when I read that there was a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game that included a four player co-op the my inner 10-year-old went crazy.
Developed by Red Fly Studios the new Out of the Shadows Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is loosely based around the Nickelodeon show with a bit of the Red Fly flavour thrown into it. Instead of the cartoony appearance of the TV show, Red Fly Studios have tried to make it a little more realistic a little like that creepy TMNT live action movie from the 1990’s as well as a little bit more gritty to fit in with the overall nature of the game.
So Out of the Shadows is going to be your typical Brawler style game with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael kicking some foot soldier ass. The game is going to be released on PC, Playstation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade so we’re really looking at a game that’s going to be loaded with your typical Arcade style gameplay which brings me onto my next point – four player co-op. According to Destructoid the game can be played by one or four players online or one to two players locally with all the characters on the screen at the same time giving the game that pick up and play ability that you’d expect from this sort of game.
Single player however gives the option for the player to use the D-pad to switch between characters which can be used to execute totally bogus combo’s dude!
Each of the gang also has their own unique play style with some characters being low ranged but hard hitting, and others being long ranged but slower than the other Turtles.
From the sounds it this game could be a fantastic little gem. I mean, who doesn’t love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Either way with Activision at the helm let’s hope we don’t have another repeat of The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts.
