I’m sure we’ve all, at one point in our lives, played that little addictive game called Runescape. I remember playing it when it first came out every night after school, and I was addicted. I played it all the time (not that I was any good at it!).
Since I last played it, there’s been a ton of upgrades, such as it being full screen, taskbar updates, more skills, more benefits for members; The list just goes on.. But this year, you Jagex lovers can expect something new to get hooked on. In the Behind the Scenes video, the man behind Runescape announced the release of Runescape 3 this summer! It will utilize HTML 5 and WebGL, which will make it run faster, use the PC hardware more effectively, and the world will see huge enhancements such as textures and draw distance.
Still using the same computer as the first Runescape? No worries, as you can continue to use the Java client if you don’t have the most recent up-to-date computer, and I have more good news! You can continue to use the same avatar and account! Jagex really are taking into consideration their users, to make sure no-one is being left in the dust.
If you don’t like how the current Runescape is laid out in terms of the interface, then you have nothing to worry about! Runescape 3’s bars are fully customizable, with different interfaces able to be pulled and attached to other bars etc. This allows the user to be comfortable with the lay out and have the most important things to them in a certain area so they can reach it at a moments notice.
The game is also moving forward, with nothing staying the same. Mark Ogilvie, the head content designer for Runescape 3, described it as “It’s not about experiencing the same storyline with everyone else. It’s about the choices you’ve made in your game.”
We are expecting to hear more information regarding Runescape 3 in the next week or so, such as an explanation of the full benefits of using HTML 5.
