If I had to choose one thing that ‘erks’ me about Call of Duty that’s the sniping and the way it’s executed within the game and the online multiplayer. It’s as far away from realism as it gets with everyone jumping and spinning and “quick scoping” (don’t even get me started on quick scoping). So it’s nice to see a game that takes pride in providing an authentic, modern sniper experience.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is the successor to the previous Sniper: Ghost Warrior title and is powered by same the CryENGINE 3 that run games like Warface and Crysis 3 which brings stunning visuals to the various scenarios you’ll find yourself.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 involves precise controls, breathless anticipation, and skillful fun of sniping and mixes it with silent stealth elimination gameplay. What makes the game appealing to me is the involvement of realistic ballistics that take into account the player’s location, wind speed and direction, breathing rate and distance from the target making the game challenging but a hell of a lot more realistic than modern FPS games. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 also involves a spotter like in the real world so you’re never fighting alone and someone always has your back.
For the more traditional FPS fans there are the occasional firefights where an assault rifle or heavy machine guns are needed so in away the game is appealing to most FPS players.
I’m really looking forward to this title, it’s right up there on my most anticipated games of this month wishlist.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is slated for release in the UK on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC on March 15.
