summlyYou read that correct. Yahoo have picked up Summly, a news app created by teenager Nick D’Aloisio for a rather large sum of money £19 million to be more specific.

Summly is very much what the name suggests. It takes the information that is around us and makes it easier, faster and more simple to take in. The main vision behind this is that we live in a world where we are just to overloaded with too much information at once. So Summly takes away the trouble of finding the important information and gives you what you want to know.

That is set to change however as Yahoo is soon to own 100 percent of the technology, IPs and of course, the creator of Summly. With that said take note that Yahoo have expressed that the Summly app will close however, the technology will be moved to a new Yahoo mobile experience.

If you take a minute to think about ‘buy out’, Yahoo have sort of won. Regardless, D’Aloisio has become one rather rich kids and landed himself a great job at Yahoo.

We will keep you posted on the status of Summly over the next few weeks as more details become clear.
