newtabpageSince getting my Nexus 4 complete with Jelly Bean, the Google Now feature has constantly baffled me. Cards appear at random, I’ll always know the weather, unless it decides to replace the weather card with local attractions. No matter how much I read up on it, I just can’t seem to get to grips with the location based smart search app..

If you don’t have Jelly Bean just yet and want to be equally confused check out New Tab Page, a Chrome extension that brings all of the features of the mobile app to your Chrome browser regardless of the operating system. New Tab Page is an unofficial Google Now new tab page for Chrome. It adds a Google Search box, voice search, weather, news, and more to your new tab page.

The New Tab Page is exactly what it says on the tin, it’s a new tab page that shows you the local weather, a collection of Google apps, some news, and your top visited sites. It’s not as functional as the mobile app (when something does happen anyway) but don’t fret, it’s been reported that Google are working on an official Google Now thank to some keen eye’d dev spotting some code within the homepage.

Until an “Official” release, New Tab Page is a perfectly functional alternative, and something I’ll be keeping until the official feature comes along.
