Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

April Fool’s Day has been and gone and Ubisoft are officially releasing details about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in a rather old school and unique way. The video almost looks like archive footage of an old 90’s game similar to DOOM or Duke Nukem, but it’s Far Cry 3…

The official website doesn’t offer much in the way of information. The entire site looks like what most websites looked like way back in the 90’s with bright colours, a loud busy background and various animated GIFs which also slow the site down somewhat.

Apparently the story is set in 2007, which is odd considering the way the site and the trailer is presented. The website also has this to say:

The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.

From that description it appears that the game is going to be based on a movie and perhaps it’s a classic take on what people in the 80’s and 90’s hoped for the year 2000 and beyond; Cyborg armies, Cyber commando’s and Laser weapons.

If you head on over to the shop on the website, you can select a bunch of different merch similar to the type of tat you used to be able to buy way back then, which will be delivered to you in 2007. If you click on “The game for your home entertainment system” you’re redirected to an image that has all of the previously leaked achievements for the game.

Oh and if you press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, and Enter (otherwise known as the Konami Code) you’ll be in for a nice surprise when you click on a picture.

At the end of the video there’s also a quick tape glitch where from what we assume is a screen from the game briefly popping up:
