In an announcement yesterday given by Capcom, the world stopped in awe as the new Phoenix Wright, given the title Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies; was given a western release date of Fall 20
13. It will be released digitally for the 3DS eShop. Note the word “digitally”. That’s right, there will be no physical copy of the newest Phoenix Wright game in the west.

When asked by Kotaku about why the the new game was digital only; Capcom had this to say:

“Historically it’s been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible. With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop.”

After the disappointment of not receiving Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney being nowhere in sight, I’m just glad to be getting back in the shoes of my favorite spiky-haired  lawyer this fall.
