sims4That’s right, the next instalment of The Sims from Maxis and EA  is currently in development at The Sims Studio and is set to be released on PC and Mac in 2014.

This new chapter in The Sims series will be a single player offline experience, it seems the backlash from simCity’s always online feature has been noted.

A quote from the press release reads:

The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience,” the post reads. “The Sims 4 encourages players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans.”

A special VIP briefing was held for a selection of hardcore Sims fans who were able to hear the news first, they will also receive first dibs on any updates about the games progress.

In a conference call with the VIPs (recorded and transcribed by thesimsupply) a Maxis representative said “So we’re listening to fans like you, and we’re going back to our roots, the Sims, themselves. We felt it was important to unlock new ways for your Sims to interact with one another. So we’re focusing on the complexity of Sim-to-Sim interactions and they way your Sims behave.”

It looks like they’ve taken feedback from Sim lovers on-board,  we get the impression that The Sims 4 will remind fans why they fell in love with the franchise in the first place.
