Smartphones are probably becoming the gadget of choice when the urge to take a picture arises. Gone are the days of digital camera selfies; now we all have front facing cameras that we abuse by showing it our ugly mugs over and over again. But what would you get if you smashed your favourite smartphone into a compact digital camera? A mess probably, why would you even do that? Metaphorically though you’d get the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, and it seems to have been leaked ahead of Samsungs June 20th event in London.
There has been many rumours as to what to expect from the June 20 event, and one of those things was the “Samsung Galaxy Zoom” a sort of hybrid smartphone camera. I don’t just mean a new Galaxy Camera, they’re neat and all but they don’t make phone calls or allow you to send text messages. What this appears to be is a Galaxy Camera with a Samsung Galaxy S4 taped to the back.
SamMobile are the guys responsible for uncovering the press shot to the left as well as these details: The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has a 4.3 inch qHD sAMOLED display a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 16 megapixel camera sensor with optical zoom, 8 GB intern with extern micro SD up to 64 GB, Bleutooth 4.0 LE Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and A-GPS. Samsung has whacked on a shutter button as well as the volume rockers the same side as the power button for zooming and probably accidentally putting it to sleep on more than one occasion.
No details on the specs of the rear camera but from the looks of it, it’s gone down the camera root with what looks like a large lens with optical zoom capabilities.
I’m looking forward to seeing a generation of people walking around taking and making phone calls on what appears to be a digital camera.
Remember folks, this is an unconfirmed leak so take it witch a pinch of salt, in fact take the entire salt shaker for this one. It’s a little too hard to believe – but then so was Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon..
