Ubisoft Announces Site Was Hacked; Personal Information Leaked

Ubisoft Announces Site Was Hacked; Personal Information LeakedIn an email sent out from Ubisoft yesterday– It was announced one of their sites was hacked, and information such as user names, email addresses, and encrypted passwords were stolen. Thankfully, no billing information was stolen during the intrusion. In light of this information; Ubisoft advises all uPlay users to change their passwords.

Here’s a bit of the email I received yesterday morning,

Dear Member,

We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.  During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords.

Please note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.

You can find Ubisofts official announcement here, and can go here to change that compromised password.

It kind of sucks that this has become so routine in the past couple of years. You know the drill, people.
