EA Sports announced that Gareth Bale, the Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder will be the accompanying cover star along with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi for this years much anticipated FIFA 14!
The 24 year old who is five time winner of Player of the Year through various times in his career will stand next to Lional Messi, but I think it’s safe to say that seeing yourself on the cover of the game is just as good as being player of the year. Maybe even a little better. Bale and Messi will feature on the UK, Ireland and Middle Eastern copies of the game and Bale had this to say on becoming the cover star –
“To be on the front cover is a massive honour. When you look at the calibre of players that have been on there in the past they are legends of the game, so for me to be here now is a dream come true.”
Past cover athletes have included Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry as well as former Barcelona star Ronaldinho. So the boots to fill are quite large. Head of Marketing for EA Sports, Dan Holman doesn’t seem to think that Bale will have much difficulty stepping up to the mark. He spoke about the partnership of EA Sports and Gareth Bale
“We’re delighted to be working with Gareth Bale. He’s a natural goal scorer and is a perfect fit for FIFA 14’s new Pure Shot feature that allows for numerous new exhilarating and rewarding ways to score. Renowned for his outstanding game-winning goals last season, we’ve worked closely with the EA SPORTS team in Vancouver to motion-capture and 3D head scan Gareth so he will be even more authentic than ever in FIFA 14.”
FIFA 14’s main new feature will be the Pure Shot – Players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net. Well-hit balls feel satisfying and goals are rewarding. As well as quality strikes, players can now shoot while off balance or rushed. Another feature included is Teammate Intelligence – Better decision-making delivers tighter, smarter marking and improved run tracking. Defenders recognize opportunities to provide support and win back possession. Attacking players have new ways to outsmart their opponents and break down tighter, more intelligent defences by creating space for themselves, running along the backline and checking their pace. These features as well as a tonne of other new features all to give the best FIFA 14 experience possible.
FIFA 14 will be released 27th September 2013 and will be available on XBOX 360 and PS3.
