The Ultimate Man-cave: What should be in yours?

The Ultimate Man-cave: What should be in yours? After we get home from work, we want to just shut ourselves off from the rest of the world, forget our troubles and kick back. Some of us spend time with family, but for those of us who like to pander to our most masculine traits, we’ve all got our gaming rigs so where better to while an evening or weekend away than in our very own man-cave?

A man-cave would have all sorts of things to keep us entertained – games, gadgets, snazzy furniture; it all depends on what we like. Here are 10 things that an ultimate man-cave would have in it:

The Ultimate Man-cave: What should be in yours? The king of TVs

The focal point of every lounge is usually the TV, and you’ll need one that’s top of the range, especially if people enter your man-cave for, say, a big football game. A 40-inch plasma TV might not be enough, but a screen that has at least 10 extra inches is great for immersing yourself in every move, while going 3D is fantastic for movie nights!

Drowning in sound

With your great new TV, you’ll need a great sound system. Surround sound, which comprises of a set of speakers that can be placed around your cave, will be great for watching a big event like the Super Bowl or a film that’s just been released on DVD or Blu-Ray. Both 7.1 and 5.1 systems are your best options.

Staying with the audio theme, a set of headphones would be cool if you’re just on your own and don’t want to let anyone know about where you are. Perfect for gaming or listening to music, a good set would cost you $99, but would be worth every single cent when it comes to getting crystal-clear sound. The Sennheiser HD25 II’s come with noise cancellation and studio quality pro monitoring.

Keep it cool

As a finishing touch to your man-cave, a refrigerator is a must-have. However, no ordinary fridge would do – one with a tap which dispenses ice-cold beer would make a big difference and would save time as you take just seconds to get from and to your chair in time for the second half!

The Ultimate Man-cave: What should be in yours?Super-quick sustenance

For those times when you need to make a snack or a meal in time for kick-off, a sandwich maker or hamburger press would be really handy. You could buy one for less than $100, and it would be great for making something cool like a toasted meatball sub. This hamburger maker from Homewetbar costs just $9.95!

Just like the movies

Do you ever get a craving for some popcorn just before you’re about to settle down and watch a movie? If so, then a popcorn machine would be a fine addition to your man-cave. It would provide you with fresh, tasty and hot popcorn that you can chow down on while working out who the bad guy is!

The Ultimate Man-cave: What should be in yours?A seat fit for a man

An ordinary reclining chair would be great, as would a beanbag if you’re going for a modern look, but the daddy of all chairs has to be this one, which has interactive, built-in audio for when you want to watch something or listen to a new album alone.

Man-caves are great for making you feel at ease when you just want to kick back and be yourself, but some are cooler than others. The best thing about them is that you can have whatever you like in there – it’s your space, after all!
