Last Weekend’s Pokémon Smash! shows Pokémon X and Y gameplay.

Pokémon Smash! is Japan’s weekly Pokémon information TV program and last weekend Nintendo showed off three whole minutes of uninterrupted gameplay from Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS.

The gameplay shown above shows off an early-game battle between the players starter Pokémon Froakie and a wild level 5 Fletchling which the player eventually catches. The 3D game play looks absolutely fantastic, it flows really well and it’s much more exciting to watch than the standard 2D images we’ve been used to for so long.

Later on in the video we see another player do a spot of fishing and then enters battle with an Octillery. The player sends out the recently revealed Honedge a strange sword-like Pokémon, defeats and captures the Octillery. Later on in the show we’re also given a short teaser of the accompanying Pokémon Anime which shows Ash Ketchum arriving on the new Kalos region, as well as the three starter Pokémon Fennekin, Chespin, and Froakie look like in animated form!

Pokemon X and Y will be available worldwide on October 12 for the Nintendo 3DS.
