One of the many launch titles which is set to be released along side the PlayStation 4 is DriveClub, a huge open world, social racing game. At the big PlayStation 4 reveal Evolution studio’s told us to expect the game to launch both digitally and retail, as well as a PlayStation+ version for those who subscribe. All is not what it seems however as the PlayStation+ version will be missing some cars and tracks.
It’s kind of expected to be fair, the initial fact that it’s titled “DriveClub PlayStation+ version” leads me to believe that it’ll be something different compared to the full retail/digital versions.
“It may be missing a few assets such as cars or tracks, that will be found in the full version,” says Evolution “However the online multiplayer, the asynchronous challenges and the single player campaign will all be present in the PS Plus version.”
To those of you who think you may have been duped, in the free PlayStation+ version you’ll have the entire game which may be missing a few “assets” but essentially all of the features found in the full version will be present. You could think of it as being the full game minus some DLC that comes packed in the full retail/digital versions.
“You can buy any/all of the content that you want. You could download the PS Plus version and then decide that you want to convert this to the full digital version, then you can pay a sum of money and everything else will be delivered to you.” says the team.
From what I’ve seen of DriveClub I think Gran Turismo has a fair contender.
