Last week Turn 10 Studios Dan Greenawalt spoke with IGN about Forza 5 and how a fair portion of the games content will have to be downloaded in order to play the game, but speaking with IGN again, Greenawalt has since clarified his comments to make more sense.
Most of the content you’ll be required to download is mostly cars, tracks, and Drivitar data, it’s not necessarily needed right away, but in order to complete the career mode, at some point you’ll need to download it.
“While playing, the player will be asked to connect to Live in order to download a completely fresh set of player-created Drivatar opponents – it’s not a lot of data, but the download contains enough Drivatars to cover all difficulty settings,” he said.
“Connecting will also download new content – but the vast majority of the launch content is contained on the disc. This download is simply additional cars and tracks. The gameplay is not blocked while downloading the additional content; it’s done in the background just like disc install.”
Essentially you’ll be able to play without interruption if you have a decent enough connection thanks to the recent announcement with states that the Xbox One will be able to download game content while you play, much like what Sony announced for the PlayStation 4.
Personally I have a decent enough Internet connection for this not to affect me, but for those still on slower broadband or even dial up (??) this may be a problem.
