At PAX Australia yesterday, Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride developer Halfbrick Studio announced Colossatron: Massive World Threat for iOS. A game where players take control of a giant mechanical snake to wreak havok all over the world.
Inspired by those crazy anime movies and cartoons from the 80’s, Colossatron: Massive World Threat sees a gargantuan robotic snake crash land on Earth from the unknown depths of space and begin to cause mass destruction. Players will be taking the role of Colossatron helping cause mayhem by building and shaping the huge snake.
In traditional Halfbrick humour the game is portrayed through the eyes of Rick Dalton and Katie Hazard of Metro 6 Action News who are reporting the chaos live as General Moustache commands various military units to your position in order to stop Colossatron.
So what do players have to do? Players must make Colossatron an unstoppable destruction machine by adding on red, yellow and blue Powernodes. Each one of these coloured Powernodes represents a different weapon or ability. These Powernodes can also be combined to form new colours, stronger Powernode tiers, and more explosive secrets.
There’s some essence of multiplay-ability according to the press release:
Success is measured by one key metric – dollars of damage caused. The more powerful Colossatron is, the more destroyed and the higher the score. Players can compare and even combine their destructive powers, with additional competitive and cooperative social features revealed soon.
I’m super excited for this game, I love Halfbrick Studios, most of their games can be found on my Nexus 4, lets just hope there’s not much of delay between the iOS and Android version..
