I had to check and then check again that it wasn’t the first of April, this looks, feels, smells and tastes so much like a prank that it can’t be true right?
Nope, this is actually the real deal. The ‘talking window’ might just reach new levels of creepy and annoying, commuters that rest their head on the train window for a much needed nap after a long day will now find themselves listening to a message that only they can hear.
Seriously, I’m still finding this hard to believe, anyway..
The proposed addition to train windows and holy Hannah Montana knows where else, involves the use of bone conduction technology which is currently used in hearing aids. Bone conduction is exactly what it sounds like, it’s the conduction of sound to the inner ear using vibration through bones in the skull.
The add agency behind the scheme BBDO’s spokesman Ulf Brychcy said:
If our customer Sky Deutschland agrees, we will start with the new medium as quickly as possible, Some people don’t like advertising in general. But this is really a new technology. [It might] not only be used for advertising, but also for music, entertainment, mass transport information, weather reports and so on.
A decision has not yet been made whether this campaign will be launched or not, honestly I feel the technology behind this could be put to much better use than a Sky add, maybe a safety message that could save peoples lives?
