World of Warcraft doesn’t seem to be doing so well right now with paying subscribers dropping like flies. Over the past few months WoW has seen player numbers drop by around 600,000 putting their subscriber numbers at 7.7 million. It’s still a massive number but it’s dropping exponentially.
GameIndustry have reported at the beginning of the year World of Warcraft had around ten million subscribers. Around the release of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was when the player numbers began to drop . Though the expansion brought back a few users it wasn’t enough to stop some subscribers jumping ship.
With the abundance of brilliant free-to-play MMO’s coming out recently the drop in subscriber numbers is unsurprising. There’s also a wealth of subscriber based MMO’s which are also interesting players a little more than what Blizzard have on the table.
