yelp-logoYelp! the massive review and recommendation site have announced that they’re currently rolling out a huge update to their mobile app which plans to include mobile transactions for users to pay for their orders before they’re delivered/collected.

The new system will roll out initially in the US, starting with food delivery and restaurant bookings at 200 restaurants across New York, San Francisco and Austin. Customers will be able to access this service through the Yelp website and mobile app, offering a simple, streamlined consumer experience.

Initially the roll-out will be a slow one but it’s clear to see that Yelp! are attempting to close the gap between customers and businesses in order to provide a one-stop service for people to book, order, and pay for their meals.

“We’ve known for a long time that many consumers visit Yelp with the intention of making an immediate purchase decision. The new Yelp Platform service makes this easier. Customers can order what they want, without the fuss of repeatedly registering details for each individual outlet. The increased convenience means people are more likely to explore their local businesses, so it’s truly a beneficial development for all concerned”.

If this new feature wasn’t exciting enough Yelp! are planning to add brand new categories to the site such as spas, yoga studios, salons and dentist appointments starting with Booker, Intuit’s Demandforce and MindBody. With this consumers can expect more categories and markets to roll out in the future which will also include the booking system
