In light of the Revolution Software’s recent announcement that Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse will hopefully be out this September not only on PC but, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and PS Vita, they’ve also released a pre-alpha teaser that looks fantastic, but it’s not quite how I remember it.
It’s been six years since Broken Sword: The Angel of Death and around 16 years since I actually played a Broken Sword title. Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror was, and still is a fantastic game, I remember spending hours upon hours trying to figure it out. Then school work got in the way and I missed out on The Sleeping Dragon, and then The Angel of Death wasn’t even on my radar.
I think one of the main reason I fell out of love with Broken Sword was because they started to opt for 3D character models over the traditional 2D cartoon-like characters that filled Broken Sword 1 and 2. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but it just ruined the way I saw the characters and ultimately felt like a new game.
That aside, Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse is the fifth instalment to the Broken Sword series, they’ve opted for the more classic level designs but have stuck firm with the 3D character models which is a shame, though they have gone back to the traditional look of George Stobbart and Nicole “Nico” Collard which I’m pretty happy about. There’s no solid release date for the game just yet, but there has been word of a September release on their Facebook Page. For now, kick back, and enjoy the gamescom trailer above.
