Call-of-Duty-Ghosts-Female-Soldier1

Call-of-Duty-Ghosts-Female-Soldier1I’m obviously in the demographic that has boobs and also plays video games so when I saw a female soldier at the end of the Ghosts multiplayer trailer my first thought was “finally”, I mean seriously, it’s about time! It’s very hard to write this and not come across negative, I just want to clarify that I am in fact stoked that this has been made possible.  We’ve not seen a female on the front line in Call Of Duty since Tanya Pavelovna, a sniper in Call Of Duty: Finest Hour, ladies with guns are very much an afterthought.

Personally I’m not fussed what my character looks like, I care more about the weapons and perks, I’ve never paid any great attention to detail when it comes to the fella himself, but that’s just it, you don’t have to pay much attention to know that it’s quite the sausage fest. The annoying thing is that this addition from Infinity Ward shouldn’t be the big deal it’s being made in to, I feel I should have always been able to play as a female and maybe if that exclusion hadn’t been put into place narrow minded idiots would be more excepting of ladies that play first person shooters, specifically Call Of Duty, which is the one game that I’ve received the most hate purely for owning a vagina.

Recently Catherine Cai spoke to Activision senior producer Yale Miller and asked him why after so many years they’re now adding a female character to the franchise, “Well I think it all started with the character customization stuff and it made sense, right?” said Yale, making things only a little clearer.

Before you could only change up the load outs and occasionally add a little face paint, nothing too unique to make you stand out from the crowd, now you can really go to town and change the entire look of your character, like I said before this doesn’t interest me, I just want to play. So with more customization comes a female character, I’m still baffled as to why there couldn’t be a standard playable female character alongside the male, I was never asking to plait her hair or anything, a simple blob of pixels that resembled a woman would have been okay with me.

Miller added “There are female soldiers in combat, why shouldn’t there be? It’s one of those – and I know it’s a story beat for this, but it’s like, it just makes sense. That’s the way it is. There are women in combat, so it’s kind of a no-brainer. Why shouldn’t they be? We get asked that question by girl gamers all the time, like, ‘When are you going to put a female character in?’ There should be.”

So they get asked this question a lot by ‘girl gamers’ also know just as gamers, it really is a no brainer but yet the reason behind it doesn’t seem genuine, completely passable but not at all genuine.  Call Of Duty fans are concerned that with a female character will come a smaller hitbox leading to everyone dropping the male character to gain a tacticle advantage. Personally I don’t think the female stature will be at all different from the male, both bodies are covered in equipment and honestly the current chap is hardly a beast.

I’m happy about the new addition.. Riley will bring a whole new aspect to the..oh yes..I’m also happy to be able to play as a woman, I just don’t think we should be grateful for something that should always have been made possible.
