A five-minute snippet of gameplay footage from the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, narrated by Insomniac Games Creative Director Brian Algeier, has emerged during this year’s Gamescom event.
The short focuses on an early part of the game, examining how developers have returned to a more “traditional” style of gameplay since the 2009 release of Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. Taking a look at some new weaponry, Algeier discusses the title’s use of gravity and its importance in combat and solving puzzles. Ratchet will be able to utilise gravity-controlling devices to suspend enemies or knock them back before picking them off. It will also be used as a puzzle-solving aide between the duo.
Less familiar are the game’s settings which include darker, trickier-to-nagvigate planets and areas to create an idea of “exploring the darkness of space”.
Into the Nexus will be available later this year on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, for digital download and store purchase.
