It’s clear to see what Namco Bandai’s game plan is this year and it involves the free-to-play business model and the PlayStation 3. First we have Tekken Revolution, next is Ridge Racer: Driftopia, and now we’ve got Ace Combat Infinity that’s scheduled for “take off” some time this year.
Ace Combat Infinity is the first free-to-play Ace Combat title in the legendary Namco Bandai series. Set in a “near future world” according to the description Ace Combat Infinity will include “beloved elements like super weapons and hyper-real visuals” as well as a brand new story campaign. There’s also a new co-op multiplayer where “skilled aces will form two teams of up to four players and compete to inflict the most damage on a common enemy.”
I’m actually really excited for Namco Bandai’s current habit of throwing pretty decent free-to-play titles out into the world, it’s just a shame that the PlayStation platform is preferred over the Xbox 360 – something that’s been discussed a lot recently.
