The latest title of popular tower defence franchise, Plants vs. Zombies, will be making its way onto PC following uncertainty over whether publishers PopCap games are in favour of PC releases of their titles.
There was some uncertainty whether the newest Plants vs. Zombies game, titled Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, would make it onto the PC platform after the game was originally only announced for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.
It has been confirmed by PopCap producer Brian Lindley that their will be a release of Garden Warfare for PC, with the computer based version set to arrive “shortly after” the latest console based incarnation of the botany and living dead mash up.
Fans of the franchise were concerned about the PC future of the game, after Plants vs. Zombies 2 was curiously lacking a PC version, however it looks as though PopCap have changed their tact and are including PC gaming into their plans once more.
The announcement also teased that Plants vs. Zombies will be rolled out across more platforms in the future, meaning a PS3/ PS4 release could be on the horizon. This would is the educated guess from the industry anyway, given the fact EA have been treating Nintendo’s Wii U with indifference recently, however the Japanese’s flagship console may “grow” on EA (I apologise but I felt I needed to get at least one terrible gardening pun in this article.)
Some gameplay details of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare have been announced and players can expect to be able to play as zombies as well as plants, with a raft of new classes and characters for the undead plant eaters.
The game is set for release in either the first or second quarter of 2014.
