Reef Entertainment, the publisher behind the upcoming Rambo: The Video game are pleased to announce that they’ve acquired the exclusive console video game rights for The Terminator and the console and PC video game rights for Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This acquisition of the rights means that Reef Entertainment will be creating a brand new video game based on the “sought-after” licences; Terminators: The Video Game.
The ink is still wet on the acquisition so no solid details on the video game have been made other than the teaser logo on the left. A Reef spokesperson said:
“Here at Reef we are huge fans of 1984 & 1991 Sci-Fi action master-pieces. It’s an incredible opportunity and an equally huge responsibility to create a game that does great justice to the motion-pictures. We are studying all aspects and influences of the Terminator universe defined in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic and exciting Terminator videogame.”
There’s a whole abundance of Terminator video games which have been released on consoles past so it’ll be interesting to see what Reef Entertainment can do with the movie franchise. Presumably they’ll be repeating the same concept as the Rambo video game they’re also responsible for, meaning that players will be playing the game roughly true to the stories in the movies.
More on this as it develops! Or should I say, “I’ll be back”.
