We’ve got wearable tech literally coming out of our ears now, with Google’s Glass, the Pebble Smartwatch, Apple’s rumoured iWatch, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear as well as another smartwatch offering from Sony, now is the generation for little pieces of tech located all over our body – specifically the wrist. Speaking with the New York Times, long time wrist dominator Casio’s CEO Kazuo Kashio gave a simple message, “We’re prepared”.
Casio have been an all time favourite watch brand for me. I love their range of calculator watches as well as their more “fancy” digital watches, you’ll most of the time catch me with a Casio watch on my wrist. Speaking with the New York Times, 84-year-old CEO Kazuo Kashio touched briefly on the recent flurry of smartwatches and wearable tech saying “Suddenly, everyone’s discovered the wrist,” he continued, “We’ve known for a long time it’s prime real estate. We’re prepared.”.
Whether Casio plan to step up to the smartwatch plate remains to be seen, chances are however they’ll stick to what they’re good at; making watches that primarily tell the time.
