A product detail page for the Xbox One controller has revealed that the console has support for up to eight controllers at once, the only issue is finding seven other friends to use them.
The Xboctopus One controller looks fantastic, I’m yet to get my sweaty little hands on one, but according to Microsoft the new controller has over 40 improvements to the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. What’s even better is that unlike the Xbox 360 Wireless controller, the USB cable available for the Xbox One is able to physically change the controller from wireless to wired with all of the data going through the cable – this opens up the possibility of the Xbox One controller being used on the PC – It’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft support that.
It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any games which plan on providing support for up to 8 players at once, games like Awesomenauts and Dollar Dash with 8 local players would be awesome to see.
Microsoft have provided a fair bit of information on the new controller which you can find here. Sony are yet to reveal how many DualShock 4 controllers can be connected to the PlayStation 4.
