Grand Theft Auto V is set to launch on September 17 but certain retailers won’t be shipping their pre-orders out until September 16. Rockstar has ensured retailers will not dispatch the game until the day before launch in an effort to make sure no-one gets the game early, a common occurrence when retailers ship pre-orders early in order guarantee launch day delivery.
UK Retailer GAME has confirmed that they won’t be sending the game out until September 16 which means that there’s a possibility some people won’t get the game until after the launch day. In an email acquired by Videogamer it reads:
“GTA V is released on 17th September and Rockstar, who publish it, have worked very hard to make it the biggest gaming launch ever. They have requested that no UK retailer despatch GTA V before the 16th September and GAME, along with all reputable retailers, will respect this request.”
In order to eliminate the possibility of late shipments GAME have confirmed that they’re processing pre-orders for GTA V earlier than usual “due to the epic size” of the game and to ensure every game is sent out on the 16th.
Finally GAME has also confirmed that it’ll be opening hundreds, if not all, of their stores at midnight on September 16/17th in order to make sure everyone gets their copy on launch day.
