Sony had made a promise to PlayStation gamers that if they pre-ordered Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V via the PlayStation Network they’ll be able to download (but not play) the game on Friday 13th and play the game at the stroke of Midnight on the 17th, that’s four days before the official release. Sony however released a statement stating that players will have to wait until Monday 16th in order to do this making PlayStation gamers very, very unhappy.
This promotion was so tempting it even caused some players to cancel their physical pre-order in favour of the digital download, because let’s face it us gamers don’t want to have to leave the house and interact with people, so this seemed like a perfect deal. This was until Sony broke PlayStation gamer’s hearts and announced that the pre-download will be happening on Monday 16th.
Sony didn’t really explain the reason behind the delay but we can guess that it has something to do with earlier pre-downloads of the game getting broken into and details were released. Nonetheless gamers took to the PlayStation Forums to air their concerns with some gamers feeling cheated and conned.
It’s not all bad news though, since the uproar Rockstar have tweeted and confirmed that UK PlayStation gamers will get their pre-download on Sunday 15th at 3pm BST but US gamers will still have to wait until Monday 16th at 3am EST.
