The Evil Within Gameplay Trailer

Ahead of the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) which takes place this week, the creators of The Evil Within, a new survival horror game by the famous Shinji Mikami, have released a whole new gameplay trailer showing off just how terrifying the game will be.

The 1:30 minute trailer shows how the game will kick off, with a lowly detective called to the scene of a mass murder. From there he is knocked unconscious and thrown right into the middle of a mental asylum which has become the home of a variety of disgusting and terrifying monsters who, let’s be honest, don’t look like the most charming of fellows.

The official press release states the game is the “meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story weave together to create an immersive world that will bring players to the height of tension.” Expect blood, darkness, violence and lots of jump scares. Mr Mikami, I say no thank you.

The Evil Within will be released in 2014 on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC. You can see the game play trailer above, but be warned, it’s pretty disgusting.
