Not only was Grand Theft Auto V the most anticipated game of the year so far, it’s also broken so many records it’s achieved a 6 star felony. Better roll out the army!
Take-Two interactive announced that Grand Theft Auto V has achieved an estimated $800 million in just one day, this estimated sell-through figure includes sales on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in both North America and Europe. Take-Two hope to increase that estimate as soon as the game goes on sale in Japan and Brazil!
“All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto V,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in the press release. “Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry’s new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence.”
If that wasn’t amazing enough, Grand Theft Auto V also holds the record for the biggest UK games launch selling 1.57 million units in first day sales which amounts to £65 million in revenue.
But that’s not all! Grand Theft Auto V has also achieved the joint highest score on the review aggregator site Metacritic giving the game an overall average score of 97 on the PS3 and 98 on the Xbox 360.
Bloody hell. Well done Rockstar.
