It’s not like any of this has come as a surprise to anyone, it’s been covered just about everywhere how many sales GTA is expected to hit. And Rockstar have done it, in THREE days. No biggie.
The game that players have eagerly anticipated since Rockstars last GTA title, GTA IV (released in 2008) have been running and gunning in San Andreas and Blaine County since Tuesday 18th September. And because of the sheer hype this game has caused it has stripped Activision as the $1 Billion in sales record holder, who had previously held it with Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Black Ops 2 reached the feat in 15 days. So just to clarify Black Ops 2 – 15 days. GTA V – 3 Days. Those figures themselves really put into perspective just how popular GTA V is.
As well as beating countless games, Rockstar have taken on Hollywood too. Movies to reach the $1 Billion mark the fastest include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Avatar and Marvels hit The Avengers. But still Rockstar have beaten them too.
The popularity have GTA V has never been downplayed and everyone expected a hit, everyone expected it to hit $1 Billion pretty quick too but to me three days is astonishing. I say fair play and congratulations to Rockstar on this accomplishment.
Let me know what you think of GTA V and the fact it’s hit the $1 Billion mark in the comments below!
Now go on, get back to playing GTA. I’ll let you.
