The New PS Vita TV Might be Getting a Western Release After All.

Last week we wrote that Sony Computer Entertainment CEO, Andrew House said during a roundtable with journalist that there are no plans for the PS Vita TV to come to the west. That however could all be changing as Sony Japan executive Masayasu Ito admitted that demand for the PS Vita in the west has been “stronger than expected”.

Obviously there are no plans just yet, but it’s looking more likely than ever that Sony could be bringing the device to Europe and North America. In an interview with Eurogamer, Ito said:

Of course we are thinking of launching it in the US and Europe, but when it comes to the timing, we’ll have to watch the environment and identify what other services are available in the US and Europe and whether we’ll have to add other services.”

The reason behind House saying that it won’t be coming to the west was because in Asia “there is no leading company in Japan’s video streaming market,”. This gives us reason to believe that a western roll-out could be coming, but not right now. If it does it’ll probably be targeting those interested in the gaming aspect rather than the movie/TV streaming.
