Have you been eagerly waiting to get BBM for Android? I haven’t, but if you have hope is on the horizon as the .APK for BBM for Android app has been released into the wild, the only problem is, it won’t work.
The app turned up yesterday on the CrackBerry Forums giving a little bit of hope to Android users everywhere who wanted the BlackBerry exclusive chat on their Android devices, there was one problem though. You need to have a whitelisted BBM Pin in order to use the app, something which very few people have and is most likely limited to employees working on the app.
In a statement from BlackBerry surrounding the excitement they said:
The excitement around the upcoming launch of BBM for Android and iPhone users is amazing. We want to thank everyone for their enthusiasm, but wanted to let people know that the program is structured so that only those in the beta will be able to use the app. The version we’ve seen on the Web in the last couple of days can be downloaded, but will not work on devices that are not approved in the beta program.
Finally rumours circulated about certain Samsung devices receiving three months exclusivity with the app before everyone else, that rumour has since been snubbed out with the following statement from BlackBerry:
“The excitement around the upcoming BBM launch on iPhone and Android devices seems to know no bounds. Although I’m a big fan of this passion, I want to clarify that no one will have an exclusive on offering BBM. We’ll be bringing the app to Android and iPhone users across the globe soon.”
