22nd February, 2014; that’s the date that Japanese gamers can get their mitts on a sparkly-new PlayStation 4 console for ¥41,979 (that’s about £269/$421) tax inclusive. Anyone wishing to make a purchase with the PS Camera on top will have to fork out ¥43,980 (£282/$441). The announcement came earlier this morning during this year’s SCE Sony Japan press conference.
Pre-order takings will begin from Saturday 5th October with consumers being offered a ‘First Limited Pack’ edition with a download code for Knack if a console is bought on the day of release, and that’s at no extra cost. Good stuff.
Gamers can look forward to seeing a new console beneath the tree in time for Christmas; Sony also confirmed PS4 release dates of 15th November in the US with Europe to follow two weeks later on the 29th. With a price tag of £349/€399/$399, the cries of many a parent can already be heard if you listen close enough. At least a swanky new PS4 will keep the kiddies busy over the holiday season, and the game-crazed adults even busier.
