Sega Dream Corporation, a new division of Sega founded on 5th September, has confirmed it has bought Index Corp.
Index Corp is best known as the parent company of Persona developer Atlus.
Atlus has also published the Shin Megami Tensei series, sleeper hit Catherine and the recently released Dragon’s Crown.
Sega fended off nineteen other bidders to secure its newest asset. The deal to acquire the bankrupt Index Corp is worth a reported ¥24.5 billion (approximately £88million).
Speaking of the deal, Sega revealed it will be gaining access to prominent IPs, which they intend to market online, for Smart Devices and licence for Amusement Machines.
It seems Sega has been steadily building its portfolio this year. It also bought Relic Entertainment from THQ in January 2013.
