Apparently Google are supposed to announce their next Nexus device, the Nexus 5, along with their latest version of Android, Android 4.4 also known as Kit Kat, once known as Key Lime Pie – unsurprisingly there’s no word on either announcement yet, but that doesn’t stop more leaks coming out. This time of Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) running on Google’s latest Nexus 7 tablet.
Today’s leak is making the most of Kit Kat’s matra; “Have a break, have a Kit Kat” and has let the Nexus 5 have a break for a while. Today’s leak still features Android 4.4 but this time it’s on the Nexus 7 shifting the focus on the software rather than the hardware.
The one main feature of each leak which is making everyone in the tech world scratch their heads is that no matter how many times the “Kit Kat” name is mentioned, it’s contradicted by the operating systems old name, Key Lime Pie, appearing elsewhere. This latest leak is no different. The latest images show the Android logo that is clearly in the style of the Kit Kat chocolate bar logo, but apparently if you tap it a few times “Key Lime Pie” appears.
The leaked images also show a new animated mosaic which can be accessed by holding down the Kit Kat Android logo which features all of Android’s past delicious treat names with no Key Lime Pie in sight..
There’s also a few screens with a direct comparison of Android 4.3 next to Android 4.4 with only a few minor changes. The white status bar icons are one of them which matches up to previous links. As far as I can see however, the black bar at the bottom which contains the navigation keys doesn’t go transparent when not in use.
Whether it’s Kit Kat or Key Lime Pie, I just want it to hurry the hell up! We’ve been teased far too much and with one rumour pointing to today to be the day it gets announced/released, I’m eagerly awaiting the news.
