Apple have revealed all on their latest iPad, not only has it got a bit of a new look it also has a new name, the iPad Air. The iPad Air is much thinner, much lighter and has a close resemblance to the iPad Mini which was released last year.
Apple claim that the iPad Air is the “lightest full-size tablet in the world” at a thin 7.5mm it’s 20 percent thinner than the current model. It also weighs a measly 1lb which is 0.4lb lighter than the current model iPad. With thinner bezels the iPad Air retains a whopping 9.7-inch screen. Under the hood the iPad Air contains Apple’s A7 chip which includes Apple’s new 64-bit architecture. It’s also home to a 5 megapixel iSight camera as well as a 1080p FaceTime camera with dual mics.
The iPad Air is up to 8x faster performance, 72x faster graphics performance (compared to the first iPad). It also boasts 10-hour battery life. Like with the iPhone 5S the iPad Air comes in silver and white, space gray and black.
In terms of price the iPad Air replaces the previous iPad and starts at $499 for 16GB or with mobile internet for $629. Apple have also announced that the iPad 2 will be sticking around at just $399. The release date for the iPad Air will be November 1st and will be the first iPad to ship to China.
