The latest trailer from Activision and Infinity Wards upcoming Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts features something no one has heard of before which is sparking rumours of a new mode that could compete with Treyarch’s popular Zombies mode.
In the latest Squads trailer that Activision released last week, at the 0:24 second mark you can almost clearly spot an unannounced game mode in the background just underneath the “Options” header. This has lead to speculation as to what this game mode may be with some suggesting that it may be an alien invasion mode with a similar concept to Treyarch’s Zombies mode found in World at War and the two Black Ops titles.
Infinity Ward are yet to release any details on this if at all. The video could be based on a work-in-progress version of the game meaning that the “Play Extinction Online” game mode will be stripped out of the final game.
Since the video the game’s secret achievements/trophies have been revealed which also hint at a game mode which requires players to escape, survive and co-operate which adds more fuel to the speculation fire.
The following titles are the true meanings behind the games nine secret Achievements/Trophies each of which are accompanied by a rather creepy alien-like incarnation of the Ghosts logo:
Until either Activision or Infinity Ward confirm or deny these rumours the best thing to do would take it with a pinch of salt. The idea alone however does sound pretty exciting. Presumably with the repeated use of the word “escape” there’s a high chance you’ll be required to escape to an end zone, perhaps faced with waves of aliens? What are your thoughts?
